The New Orleans Giant Puppet Festival is BRINGING BACK the popular workshop series for the public on the fundamentals of GIANT PUPPETRY! Participants will be guided by master puppeteers Pandora Gastelum, Sierra Kay and Elizabeth Seleen through a design and production process that focuses on relating narrative concepts through objects and images. Students will learn the practical skills of producing large scale, moving puppets and ultimately how to manipulate these puppets in the context of a procession. Workshop goals: to answer the prompts- Why are giant puppets effective as tools for pageantry and protest? How can we work together to address communal concerns and express concepts of healing and innovation through giant puppetry? To understand the fundamentals of giant puppet construction.
